For several years, our local club NELARC has sponsored a special event to commemorate the Louisiana Purchase of 1803, an historic real estate transaction and treaty that truely shaped the future of the then young United States of America.
The idea for the special event originated with Jim W5LA. We held the first one in 2018, and have continued each year since.
Jim W5LA lives just over 11 miles away from me as the crow flies. From his station, he often records me operating. Here is a clip from he recorded from the 2021 event. I was operating at my station, W5WZ. It is interesting to note the times that his station doesn’t hear the station that I am working.
